Extradition case against Fulwood brothers in Dubai fails

Extradition case against Fulwood brothers in Dubai fails

Three men wanted by Lancashire Police in connection with a multi-million pound fraud investigation are to remain in Dubai.
Brothers Arif Umarji Patel, Faisal Patel and Munaf Umarji Patel have been wanted since summer 2015 by police.
The British government applied for extradition of the trio from Dubai to return to Britain and face trial.
All three had previously lived in the Sharoe Green, Fulwood area of Preston and are accused of a conspiracy to cheat the public revenue, launder money and to sell or offer goods with an unauthorised trade mark.
Documents seen by Blog Preston show a Dubai court refused the request to extradite the three men during a hearing in December 2016.
Attorney General Ismail Ali Madani has written to Interpol explaining the decision to refuse extradition. The Dubai authorities have also asked for all search orders against the Patels to be dropped.
All three men remain listed on the Lancashire Police most wanted list.
A spokesman for Lancashire Police said they would not be commenting on the refusal of extradition.
Blog Preston approached the Home Office and Interpol for comment, but received no response.
